From the Sydney International Bachata Festival organizers
Monday, 4th of May, 2009 – It has been a week since the end of the 2009 Sydney International Bachata Festival. Hard to believe that all the energy and the great vibe we felt happened already a week ago!
We, the organizers, are thrilled with the success of this year’s festival. For this second edition, the new venue was fully packed with eager Bachateros , Zoukeros and Salseros. This year we had representatives from Sydney, Newcastle, Canberra, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Melbourne, Adeliade and Perth, as well as international representatives from New Zealand, USA, Malaysia and Singapore. Only a few more people and we would have needed a bigger venue!
Australia hosted for the first time a Bachata band for a live concert. 4Ever proved to be the right band to get everybody excited about Bachata. Their friendly attitude and their great performances left everybody wanting more. Thank you 4EVER! It was a pleasure working with you guys!
On the concert night, we wanted to thank everybody who helped and supported us in making this a successful event: the sponsors, the instructors, the performers, the DJs, the booth holders and the volunteers. Unfortunately, because of the excitement of the night, we forgot to call to the stage a few important contributors. Special mention goes to: Oliver and Vali from Latin Motion Dance Academy, for supporting the event every night, even though they were performing on the final of So You Think You Can Dance; Krin Bajough and his Latin Dance Sensation team; as well as Sherylanne and the Salsa Republic Team. We would also like to mention Liz Tashounidis from Melbourne Latin Dance for her great contribution to the festival.
With the great spirit and energy we felt this past weekend, we want to say to everybody who attended a big THANK YOU! Thank you for supporting the dream and the passion we have for Bachata and the Latin rhythms.
We look forward to 2010 with confidence. The event is shaping up to be even bigger and better, as we already have new international artists expressing their interest in being part of next year’s festival.
Let’s get together one more time and say it loud: “PARA EL MUNDO ENTERO…. YO SOY BACHATERO!”
See you in April 2010!
